Commentary By Rob Pollard

Walker on Champions League:

"There are still things we have to work on, it is completely different to Premier League. Still things we need to switch on to. But we're through and hopefully we can get a good draw."

Walker on Laporte

"He's done well. We practise set plays and he is a key figure in them. He pops up in the right places, which shows he is listening to the coaches and is working hard."

"They gave us a good game at the Etihad so we knew it would be a tough game. They have good players in good areas and quick players but we got a good draw.

"That shows the character and belief in the dressing room. Important players come good at the right time.

"Lyon are technically good and quick and strong, that's why they hurt us at the Etihad and that's why we had point to prove."

"The people say the French league is just PSG, PSG. People all the time say that and people are so wrong. Always in my career when i play against French teams always they are so physical. Thatโ€™s why they are World Cup winners

"All of them are so strong, theyโ€™re fast and it is so complicated. Thatโ€™s why i give a lot of credit on our game today."

"Always you think โ€˜how will we react in that situationโ€™ [going behind] and always we have shown a huge personality. We did it. We were strong in this situation."

"We are into the last-16. Itโ€™s so important at this time to be in the last-16. Champions League is so complicated. Important teams like, for example, Inter, or Tottenham or Liverpool or Napoli or of them will be out.

"That shows how tough it is. When you play against Lyon, itโ€™s complicated because of how good they are. The level was quite similar across all the group thatโ€™s why starting with a 1-0 defeat at home to Lyon, we have made an excellent four games."

Sterling whips in a free-kick, Silva gets up and manages to flick the ball on, and Laporte comes in at the back post and powers a brilliant header past Lopes.

Lyon are a very good side. They've had the better chances. City lucky to be level at HT.

Pep will want more from his players in the second half.

How on earth did Lyon miss that? Great move - Mendy flew down the left, crossed brilliantly across the face of goal. Cornet's touch wasn't the best but what a block from Laporte!

Silva looks to play a one-two with Aguero inside the area, Mendy slides in and makes a challenge. Looks like a corner but the ref says goal kick.

Mahrez absolutely everywhere so far. But he gives the ball away, Lyon break at pace and Cornet was in - but Laporte makes a sensational sliding tackle to deny him inside the area.

The matchday one loss at home to Lyon is City's only defeat in their last 26 matches in all competitions (W22 D3), since a 2-1 loss at home to Liverpool in last season's UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg.

We have won our last eight games in all competitions, and 12 of the last 13, since that matchday one defeat by Lyon.

That is some run!

Pep pre-match interview

"Champions League is a high level and the players we trust a lot in them. Hopefully we can recover the injured players as quickly as possible.

"Itโ€™s no sense to play and defend a result because the opponents are good. We will try and do our game.

"We will try to win and two games we will try and finish first in the group stage and we will see. We wonโ€™t know until maybe 10 minutes left if one point is enough. We will see."

We've bagged 12 goals in four games in this season's Champions League. No side has scored more than us.

Honestly believe this squad has what it takes for a proper tilt at winning the competition.

Lyon's last three Champions League home games have all finished as draws - the French side came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Shakhtar in October, before letting a 2-0 lead slip themselves against Hoffenheim.

Team news is in!

City XI | Ederson, Walker, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko, Fernandinho, Silva (C), Mahrez, Sane, Sterling, Aguero

Subs | Muric, Danilo, Kompany, Delph, Otamendi, Foden, Diaz

David Silva has scored in each of his last three Champions League appearances - the only City player to score in four consecutive games in the competition is Raheem Sterling (September-November 2017).

This is only our third away European game in France, after drawing 2-2 at Paris St-Germain in April 2016 and losing 3-1 at Monaco in March 2017.

It's matchday!

City are back in Champions League action tonight with a trip to Lyon in our penultimate Group F clash.

A point will be enough for the Blues to secure qualification; a win would cement top spot.

As always, we'll have all of the match build-up, minute-by-minute coverage and post-match reaction right here. So, stay tuned throughout the day...
