Commentary By Caroline Oatway

Signing off...

Another memorable night here at the Etihad!

Signing off now, but we will be back with you on Monday as we return to Premier League action against Wolves.

More from Nigel Clough...

NIGEL CLOUGH: My players couldn't believe how good City were. They said the City lads didn't seem to be running - instead they glided around the pitch

Pep on relentless City

PEP: We spoke about that at half-time - to be simple. To score is best way to respect the competition and the opponents.

More from Pep...

PEP: Big congrats to Burton for what they have done, they have beaten teams from Premier League and Championship and deserved to be here. We scored quickly. The difference in Premier League teams is the rhythm, when you have high intensity.

Pep's more than satisfied...

PEP GUARDIOLA: A striker needs goals, he (Gabriel Jesus) had chances last game and today he scored. It will be good for him, the team, for everybody!

City fans singing 'we want 10!' of course... this writer was there the day we last managed it against Huddersfield Town. Nights to say you were there...

City's record win (as Manchester City) was 11-3 versus Lincoln City in 1895 and we beat Darwen 10-0 in 1899. Ardwick beat Liverpool Stanley 12-0 in 1890....

Into added time here and you can't help thinking City have already done enough - harsh on Burton in some ways as they might have levelled early on but you have to take your chances against this team

Skipper David Silva crosses low into the six-yard box but nobody is there - then the ball comes to Leroy Sane who does the same - low cross but the nobody in there to turn it in

Wow! Big, big chance for Burton as the ball found its way to Marcus Myers-Harness in the box - unmarked - but he fires it over the bar. He should have scored

Spurs edging it...?

Advantage Spurs in the other semi-final, played last night... Harry Kane's VAR-awarded penalty was enough to give his team a 1-0 lead to take back to Stamford Bridge

Four changes for the Blues with Aro Muric, Eric Garcia, David Silva and Leroy Sane all come in - Ederson, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo and Phil Foden drop to the bench

Here's our team for this evening...

City XI | Muric, Walker, Otamendi, Garcia, Zinchenko, Gundogan, Silva (C), Sane, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Jesus

Subs | Ederson, Danilo, Stones, Sterling, Delph, Bernardo, Foden

We'll have that team news in just over half-an-hour... Pep has already said it will be a strong starting XI as he wants to go as far as he can in every competition we're in - exactly how it should be

Weather update: For those of you in sunnier climes, you might be interested to know that the temperature is about zero here is chilly Manchester...

Phil Foden (on the importance of winning the Carabao Cup):

"It’s a massive confidence boost for the whole squad.

“You could tell last year the celebrations when we won… we were all buzzing and over the moon with it and that helped us with the rest of the season.

“Hopefully we can repeat it this year because it’s a special cup and any cup win leaves everyone buzzing.

“We’re gonna try and do the same as last year.”

Pep Guardiola:

“Winning is important, we cannot deny it.

“We are in the semi-finals, one step closer to going back to Wembley. We take it seriously.

“The Carabao Cup is a more local competition. Everybody is happy to win but no one is sad to go out but we are here and we are going to try.”

Team news

Pep Guardiola confirmed he has no new injury concerns with all bar long-term absentee Claudio Bravo fit and ready for selection.

Guardiola also revealed Benjamin Mendy is back in training and could be available in a fortnight, following November's knee surgery.

Up for the Cup!

A very good morning, Blues... it's matchday!

Tonight, we host Burton Albion in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup - the first encounter of our two-legged tie, as we look to gain a strong advantage to take to the Pirelli Stadium in a fortnight's time.
