Goodnight

That's all from me. Goodnight or good morning - wherever you are in the world!

Check out mancity.com for more post-match reaction and the match highlights.

It's been a pleasure. See you again in Miami!

04:32

Reaction: Bernardo Silva

"It was a good experience, especially for the young kids, who are coming right now to the first team and are having great opportunities to play in pre-season.

"It was a good game for all of us to get well and start getting fit, to start the season well.

"Of course, we wanted to win but we know there are a lot of players from our team missing, who played in the World Cup.

"Very soon, we will be with them and we will be stronger."

04:12

Reaction: Oleks Zinchenko

"I think we played well. We didn’t score all the chances but in my opinion, in the first half, we should have had at least one penalty.

"Especially, we have a lot of young players, who have never played in this squad. I think we played well. Of course, you have to improve yourself in a lot of details but totally, I think we played well.

"We tried to play in our way. Sometimes, we did well, sometimes not. This is about pre-season. We were not disgraced.

"We have to improve and that’s it."

03:20

Reaction: Pep Guardiola

“It is incredible, what we have done. For 75 minutes, it was incredible what we did with the players we have against that team – finalists of the Champions League, who have amazing players.

“Our personality was incredible. The average age of our players in the first half was very young. I am so proud and I am so happy to be manager of these guys for that reason.

“For the last 15 minutes, we were so tired. We made some changes and in the last few minutes, Liverpool deserved to score goals.”

Get in there!

From a disallowed goal at one end, to the opener at the other! City lead!

The assist from Bernardo Silva, who puts Sane through. Of course, the winger has the pace to outrun his marker and drills into the bottom corner!

ARGH!

City should be ahead! Incredible storming run from Bolton down the right. He crosses for Sane, who connects - but somehow, Kelleher makes a point-blank save!

Last-ditch defending!

Liverpool think they've scored but City survive!

Mane strides through - but Zinchenko sticks out a leg to thwart. The Reds striker manages to poke the ball over substitute Hart but Humphreys is there to clear off the line!

Analysis

A positive half for our young Blues. Once again, plenty of impressive showings, particularly Mahrez, Foden, Diaz, Bolton and Zinchenko in the holding midfield role.

A very bright start and chances for both sides, as Liverpool grew into the game.

Naturally expect several changes in the second half.

Save!

Bravo had to be alert there, as Jones fired a daisy-cutter goalward.

On this pitch, anything could happen but the City shot-stopper saved well.

Save!

Foden has the chance to open his City account, collecting Karius' punch at the edge of the area..but the shot lacks power and it's comfortably saved.

Penalty shout denied!

City well on top here and perhaps should have had a penalty!

Bolton is sent through by the driving Diaz and is hacked down by Robertson in the area. The winger tries to stay on his feet but can't... but the referee waves away protests for a penalty!

Phil of the future

Foden has had a very bright start to this game.

Already, he's won back possession twice and as usual, he's keen to get on the ball and drive City forward.

Close!

What a chance for City!

Mahrez plays a glorious through-ball for Nmecha to run onto. The striker's initial shot is saved and Fabinho does enough to put the City man off on the rebound - it's wide for a corner!

Early exchanges

A promising start by our young Blues.

Chasing everything down and cool in possession with one or two well-worked moves on the attack.

23:38

A solid debut display from this young man against Dortmund. Same again tonight?

23:34

New recruit

Earlier today, we announced the signing of 18-year-old French defensive midfielder Claudio Gomes.

The youngster was previously with Paris Saint Germain, making five appearances for the Ligue 1 champions’ Under-23 side in the UEFA Youth League, and he is the current captain of his country’s Under-18s team.

He could make his debut tonight.

It's raining, it's pouring...

Of course, we're no strangers to a dash of precipitation... but this pitch isn't in great condition, it has to be said, and this sheeting rain isn't helping matters.
23:00

Bernardo on Liverpool...

“They’re improving – they are buying very good players. We have to look at ourselves and keep improving, getting better and better, to start the season well.

“We have big opponents – fantastic teams who will play against us and try to stop us but that’s football.”

22:59

Bernardo's back

Bernardo Silva joined up with the squad on Monday, returning early from his post-World Cup break.

Will he make the starting XI tonight? We'll let you know around an hour before kick-off...

22:49

Manager's notes

Pep Guardiola is looking forward to seeing how his young City squad fare this evening.

“It’s nice for the young players that we have,” he told press. “We’re going to play against one of the best teams in Europe – Champions League finalists.

“The young players will play against Mo Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, James Milner… It will be a good experience for them to see what you have to do to achieve a high level.

“It will be good practice to see how the players react in an important game."

22:44

Youth v experience

While City's travelling squad is composed mainly of youth players, Liverpool boast a wealth of experience at their disposal.

Amongst their potential starters tonight are: Mo Salah, Fabinho, Virgil Van Dijk, James Milner, Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana and new signing Xherdan Shaqiri, although tonight's game will probably come too soon for him.

22:40

Game #2

Tonight's encounter marks City's second pre-season game, with the Blues having opened the 2018/19 campaign against Borussia Dortmund in Chicago.

The German outfit triumphed 1-0, through Mario Gotze's penalty, and then went on to defeat tonight's opponents Liverpool 3-1 two days later.

22:30

Greetings from New York

A very good evening from New York! Your City media team are in position for tonight's International Champions Cup clash against Liverpool, which kicks off at 8:05pm local time and 1:05am BST.
